Not only is Reaper a very good Digital Audio Workstation, there are many themes, or skins available for it at stash.reaper.fm. I was impressed with the creativity of people all using the same product, with so many different appearances. It just makes it more enjoyable when you're sitting at it for hours to change the scenery now and then. Be sure and crank up the vid resolution to HD or the details will be fuzzy. If you see your theme here, take a bow for us in the comment section! The music was recorded with Reaper, using a guitar backing track, I played the rhythm and lead guitar tracks you hear. I used Amplitube 3 with an Orange Rockerverb 50 amp sim.
REAPER Resources. This is the REAPER file repository. It includes REAPER themes, screenshots, projects, etc. Cubic13 cubase theme mod.
Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plustop Pro was the guitar I used. I know it's not a great mix and I made some mistakes but this is my first try at this. First I show themes using a dummy 24-track project with an MP3 to give it some life.
Then I show some of the same themes, and many new ones, with various guitar amp sims I use, Amplitube 3, Guitar Rig 5, AmpLion Free and various others and effects. You'll even see a Leslie spinning speaker in there, which sounds great I might add. I built a simple template project for guitar playing, all I do is drag and drop a guitar backing track into it and start playing/recording. Then I can save it under any name I wish.
A new Cubase inspired theme was recently posted by Cube13 and it looks great. Eyssina by Cube13 is an advanced theme for REAPER V5 with lots of extras.
The install requires extra attention so please and read the instructions thoroughly. This theme is supposed to be used with Reaper 5 (including ‘pre’ and ‘RC’ releases). Don’t expect it to be efficiently usable with Reaper 4.xx An important thing, I think, needs a reminder: for the ones patient enough to fully test this theme, and as for the ‘Piolit’ one, be sure to install everything bundled in the.zip file, by following the instructions listed in the Readme.txt one. I admit that some of them are tedious, especially the ones related to the layout actions, as there is no way to save these in a dedicated file which would considerably ease the theme distribution process, but well At the end, the whole theme (which could be thinked as an environment) makes really sense if everything is installed and ready to work. This theme is based on the by the same creator. If you are not upgrading to V5 then this is the theme for you.
Update Jan 2015 – Eyssina is now in the with the other Cubase-like theme Frema.
